Hum, my career choice… it is more that it chose me than I chose it… The short version is that in 1997 I was called to serve what I thought was the missions field, even did short term trips in China and El Salvador. Left corporate America and got my Bible degree from Philadelphia Bible University – even got a Who’s who – aren’t you impressed!
Then the last part of candidacy school I was suppose to name the people group I had been called to… they wanted me to go to China and I left my heart there as if it was my second nation, but God wouldn’t give me peace about the people group. After a week of prayer and fasting it was ‘to serve the world’… What do you do with that????
I surrendered and that is when God was really able to mold me. He used an acute mercury poisoning in 2004 to put me on the track that He wanted. Long story short is that I was designed to be a healer.
I even wanted to be a doctor in eighth grade. I saved a kid’s life once while working at the day care center and realized he could have died… I realized if I was a doctor some would die and I just couldn’t handle the fact that I would kill some of my patients. Today I help people accept death in peace, but that is much different.
I think my near death experience was key at expanding my healing ability and seeing many things that are beyond normal human range. And the fact that I had a personal relationship with God and much of the work is His answering prayers - I ended up to be beyond my years in the ability to heal. I’ve discovered most of the good healers have also had a near death experience- apparently there is change in brain chemistry and function… I think it ties us closer to heaven. Most of us now love differently, more of the universal agape love instead of the Eros love. And believe me once you experience heaven, you get a very different perspective of earthly matters.
I took a keen interest in the alternative medicine and really wanted to know how Jesus healed, believing it was one of those things passed down through the generations without written instruction manual. So I investigated many methods going out to different people groups and learning some modern techniques and science…I am too scientifically minded to leave that out, I didn’t only want to know a method, but wanted to know the science behind it when able. A lot of my healing friends will do the work and think it is all based on magic and miracles, but much of it is science based that the doctor’s haven’t accepted as standard yet. I hope in the years to come we will meld the old ways in with the new ways as some of the science becomes apparent. Right now most people think that the work as a healer is a faith healing or magic- some of it is only a gift from God, but much of it is science.
Eventually I came to realize I had what I was searching for, a combination of skills that worked and any new system I was learning was a combination of things I already learned (just a dance by a different name.) Many true healers hold their cards close to their chest, not sharing information too easily until they know the heart of the learner is pure. Once they open up and share the real stuff, you see that the systems are all based on the same basic observations about the human body and healing methods… even though these different indigenous groups know nothing about each other, and even some groups even warring with each other.
There really is nothing new under the sun… just different versions for people. Basically when healing a person, I tune into what God is telling me to do- that is the key to the work for me. Keeping an open heart with child like faith and listening and willingness to be a vessel for His work.
